Make speech balloons readable
Keep a balloon and enough nearby artwork to understand its context. Avoid cutting through characters. If a page contains many small balloons, work with a panel or a few balloons at a time.
Vertical text is not guaranteed to retain its direction or order. Background effects, handwritten sound effects and text touching balloon borders can be missed or split into the wrong groups.
Translate and compare a panel
Use an image you are entitled to upload. The translation feature does not grant rights to redistribute a work.
- Select a sharp page or panel and choose the source language.
- Choose the target language and run the translation.
- Follow the original reading order. Check each balloon, name and effect before saving the translated image.
Names, context and sharing
A short line rarely contains enough context to distinguish a name from an ordinary noun. Compare a character’s name with other panels or an official spelling. Do not assume consistent translation across pages.
Before publishing or sharing a translated page, check the work’s usage conditions and the rights holder’s guidance. Machine translation can also lose tone, implied meaning and character voice; use it as a reading aid.
